IMG_2733-modLEED Project – Idaho Power Long Valley Operations Center

This 13,500 square foot operations center was designed to fit into the rural surroundings of Lake Fork, Idaho. The facility has multiple uses, including an office building, warehouse and truck port. The dynamic slopes of the roof were designed deliberately to shed the abundant snowfall of the area to the front of the building. This keeps the truck port housing Idaho Power’s power line repair vehicles clear from snow in the back of the building. There is secured fencing around the site and the building was designed with natural surveillance in mind. Special consideration was given to the driveway configuration, reducing vehicle pedestrian traffic.

Architectural services included schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration. The Integrated Design Process was the foundation for the design. This included the participation of all the stakeholders, including the architect, engineering consultants, building owners and the occupants. Focus on energy and efficiency ran in parallel with the design effort and not only provided an efficient building, but enabled the project to achieve LEED certification. The Operations Center building modeled out to be nearly 40% more efficient than current code requirements.
